Arif Ahmed is Assistant Professor of Health Administration at the Henry W. Bloch School of Business and Public Administration at UMKC. He is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the UMKC School of Dentistry. Ahmed received his Ph.D. and MSPH degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BDS degree from the University of Dhaka. He also completed a one-year post-graduate training in oral surgery at the Dhaka Dental College Hospital.

Ahmed’s primary research interest is in the area of access to care, particularly the impact of non-monetary costs of care on health service utilization. He is also interested in healthcare workforce issues, social determinants of health, and employee health benefits. His current research projects include developing a population-based dental workforce planning model for Missouri and assessing the role of dental benefits in employment decisions.

Ahmed was included in the “List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students” at University of Illinois. He has received several research grants and presented numerous papers at national and international conferences.
