Admissions Criteria for the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA)Successful Bloch School graduate accounting students can be confident that their studies will lead to a rewarding career. Well-trained accountants have always been an asset to any business or enterprise, and with recent legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley, accountants are even more in demand today. Bloch faculty have extensive experience in both public and private accounting. Each faculty member has a Ph.D. and is engaged in active research in his or her chosen field. They have been recognized with numerous awards for excellence in teaching. The Bloch MSA offers options for students both with and without undergraduate accounting backgrounds. All of our MSA courses are offered at night to accommodate the schedules of full-time professionals. You may apply to and begin the MSA program in any semester. Our priority deadlines are the following:
You are encouraged to apply by the priority deadlines, but we do offer rolling admissions. However, if your completed application is not received by a semester's priority deadline we cannot guarantee admission for that semester. A completed application includes all of the following:
The Bloch School reviews completed applications in the order received and will inform you of admission committee decisions via regular mail. You should allow 2-4 weeks from when the completed application is received by Bloch until there is a decision from the committee. Notes:

Other MSA Admission OptionsProvisional admission to the MSA programCandidates who do not meet the criteria listed above can submit a written request to be considered for admission by exception. Provisional admission is very competitive due to the limited number of students who can be admitted in this fashion. The BSA/MSA program (early entry)UMKC BBA and BSA students with at least a 3.0 cumulative undergraduate GPA AND within 12 hours of completing their program may be able to take up to six credit hours of MSA course work during their final undergraduate term. The student must have applied and be admitted to the MSA program for a subsequent term. Please email Bloch with any questions. |
