UMKC Housing

Campus life should be more than a place to eat and sleep. It’s your home away from home, where you can make friends with students from across the country and around the world.

UMKC has several options for on-campus housing when you come to UMKC, and you’ll want to visit UMKC’s Residential Life Office to learn more. You can choose a traditional (but never boring) residence hall, or (new for Fall 2008), UMKC's Oak Place apartments.

No matter which option you choose, the Residential Life office will be able to help you find the perfect place for your UMKC experience.

Living/Learning Communities

Living on campus also means something very special for Bloch students: the Bloch Living/Learning Community (LLC).

Living/Learning Communities are communities comprised of 20-50 students who share common interests in academic areas. While each community has its own goals, characteristics and programs, some common characteristics are (1) contact with fellow students with whom you have shared interests/experiences, (2) special community social activities, (3) service activities related to the community's interests, (4) study groups, (5) some shared classes (some of which may be in the residence hall), as well as on-site faculty and academic interaction.

In past years our students in the Bloch LLC have enjoyed such things as having lunch with our interim Dean, Dr. Lee Bolman, taking tours of Kansas City businesses, and movie nights with faculty.

I liked that most of my classes were small sizes. I liked that teachers were willing to help students find a way to learn the material--in or outside of class. My friends in accounting and I had study groups together. I enjoyed going to UMKC and I loved the atmosphere of the Bloch School.
